Vegetable Garden
Established in 2018
If interested in helping with planting and upkeep or
would like a compost bucket, please contact SVdP (see below)
The St. Vincent de Paul vegetable garden has flourished in the past few years.
We have grown over 500 lbs of food each year to give back to the local community.
Composting program has been quite successful. If you would like to contribute, we can provide you with 5 gallon container for your vegetable peels and fruit skins, so that you don’t have to make daily or weekly trips to drop off your composting.
Volunteers are always needed, we do most of our work on Monday and Friday mornings when the food pantry is open. Since gardening is an ongoing chore, we are glad for any time our volunteers can spend pruning and watering. If you don’t have experience growing veggies, we can show you how. We grow a wide variety of vegetables such as tomatoes, cucumbers, lettuce, squash as well as herbs.

SVDP Garden Results 2024

What a year!! Challenges were encountered with the drought and high temperatures this summer.
A BIG THANK YOU to all our volunteers who helped water and harvest our Community Garden @ SVdP.
Raised beds and the irrigation system are being repaired and replaced where needed now thanks to a large donation by a parishioner. Meg Otchy, Matt MacCarrick and Charlie Yannelli are working diligently to make all the repairs before the cold weather sets in.
Fall plantings - especially garlic - will start as soon as the beds are ready!

Here is the fruit of your labor:
The most harvested was from Tomatoes, Cantaloupe, and Lettuce representing about 1/2 of the total!

Thanks to this important ministry, families received over 551 pounds of FRESH vegetables!
Congratulations!!
